Who this guide is for
Adults in Sandy, Utah and the greater Salt Lake area who are scheduling PRP, PRF, or EZ Gel for skin quality, hair support, or joint comfort, and want clear instructions before and after the visit.
Pre treatment instructions
- Reschedule if you are sick
If you develop a fever, cold, flu, cold sore, blemish, or a skin rash in the treatment area before your visit, contact us to move your appointment. We do not treat when you are ill or if the skin is compromised. - Time your appointment
Plan your procedure at least 2 weeks before a special event or vacation. Three to four weeks is preferred to allow visible healing. - Cold sore prevention for lip treatments
If you get frequent cold sores, preventive medication helps. Many patients use valacyclovir 2 grams the day before or morning of treatment, then 2 grams 12 hours later. Tell us if you need a prescription. - Hold anti inflammatory medications
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and other anti inflammatory drugs for 3 days to 1 week before treatment unless your prescribing clinician advises otherwise. PRP and PRF work through a controlled inflammatory response, and these medicines can interfere. - Avoid recent oral steroids
If you use systemic corticosteroids, wait at least 2 weeks after your last dose before scheduling. Speak with your prescribing clinician before stopping any medication. - Pause blood thinning supplements
Hold vitamin E, vitamin A, ginkgo, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, and other EFAs or DHAs for 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to lower bruising risk. - Limit alcohol, caffeine, and smoking
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and cigarettes for 3 days before and after treatment. These can increase bruising and slow healing. - Hydrate and eat well
Drink extra water for 24 to 48 hours before your visit. Eat a healthy meal before you arrive. People who sleep well, avoid smoking, and follow a nutrient rich diet tend to see better outcomes.
Post treatment instructions
Applies to PRP, PRF including injectable PRF, and EZ Gel
- Protect the area
Do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate the treated area for at least 8 hours. - Avoid anti inflammatory drugs
Skip aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and steroids for 3 to 7 days after your session unless your prescribing clinician instructs otherwise. Inflammation is part of the healing process. - Hold certain supplements
Avoid ginkgo, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, and other essential fatty acids for 3 days to 1 week after treatment. - Use acetaminophen if needed
If you are uncomfortable, acetaminophen is acceptable. Follow label directions. - Cool carefully
You may apply a clean cold pack for 20 to 30 minutes after the procedure. Do not place ice directly on the skin. - Pause washing and products
Do not wash or shower the treated area for at least 6 hours. Avoid lotions, creams, makeup, or sunscreen on the treated skin for at least 6 hours unless we advise otherwise. - Take it easy
Avoid vigorous exercise, direct sun, and heat exposure such as sauna or hot tub for at least 3 days. - Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and smoking
Continue to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes for 3 days after treatment. Smoking slows healing. - Hydrate well
Aim for at least 64 ounces of water on the day of treatment. Keep your water intake up for the next week. - Expect normal short term reactions
Mild swelling, redness, itching, soreness, or bruising can last 3 to 10 days. - Microneedling with PRP
If you had PRP with microneedling, do not wash the PRP off for at least 5 to 8 hours. Avoid heat on the face during this time.
Why these steps matter
PRP, PRF, and EZ Gel rely on your body’s healing response. Skipping anti inflammatory drugs, staying hydrated, and allowing time for recovery make it easier for platelets and growth factors to signal collagen and tissue support. Healthier habits lead to better results. If you have any questions after your visit at Nervana Medical in Sandy, Utah, contact our team for guidance.
