PRP Injections (Aesthetics)
Harnessing the power of your own blood to promote healing and rejuvenation. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections are a minimally invasive aesthetic treatment that uses your own blood to stimulate collagen production, boost cell turnover, and improve skin texture and tone. This same process can also be used to promote hair growth in areas of thinning or balding. By injecting the concentrated platelets into the scalp, we can activate dormant follicles and stimulate new hair growth.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections represent a cutting-edge medical procedure that harnesses the remarkable healing abilities of your own blood components to promote tissue regeneration and improve various aspects of health and aesthetics.
How It Works:
PRP injections involve a straightforward process. A small amount of your blood is drawn, similar to a routine blood test. This blood sample is then placed in a centrifuge machine, which separates the platelets and growth factors from the rest of the blood components. The resulting PRP, rich in healing properties, is then carefully injected into the targeted area of your body.
Applications of PRP Injections:
Hair Restoration: PRP injections are widely used to stimulate hair follicles, aiding in hair regrowth for individuals experiencing hair thinning or pattern baldness.
Skin Rejuvenation: PRP is applied topically or injected to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and promote a youthful complexion.
Joint and Tendon Healing: Athletes and individuals with joint injuries often turn to PRP injections to accelerate the healing process and reduce pain associated with conditions like osteoarthritis and tendonitis.
Wound Healing: PRP can be applied to chronic wounds or surgical sites to expedite healing and reduce infection risk.
Sexual Health: In the form of the “O Shot” for women and “P Shot” for men, PRP injections can enhance sexual function, improve sensitivity, and contribute to a more satisfying intimate life.
Benefits of PRP Injections:
Natural Healing: PRP utilizes your body’s own resources, reducing the risk of allergic reactions or complications.
Minimally Invasive: PRP injections are typically quick, minimally invasive, and require little to no downtime.
Versatile: PRP can be used in various medical fields, from aesthetics to orthopedics.
Long-Lasting Results: Many patients experience prolonged benefits as PRP continues to stimulate tissue growth over time.

Pre- and Post-Care Instructions for PRP/PRF and EZ Gel Treatments
At Nervana Medical, we want you to get the best possible results from your PRP or EZ Gel procedure. These treatments work by stimulating your body’s own natural healing and collagen-building processes, which require a healthy inflammatory response. To support your outcome, please follow these guidelines.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
- If you develop a fever, cold or flu, cold sore, blemish, or rash in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, you must reschedule. We will not treat you if you are ill or the skin is compromised.
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before a special event or vacation (3–4 weeks is preferred) to allow time for healing.
- If you are being treated in the lip area and have a history of cold sores (Herpes) with outbreaks more than 4 times a year, pretreatment with medication is recommended. This office advises Valtrex 2 grams the day before or the morning of treatment, followed by another 2 grams 12 hours later. Please let us know if you need a prescription.
- Discontinue anti-inflammatory drugs such as Aspirin, Motrin, or any ibuprofen drugs for at least 3 days to 1 week before treatment. PRP works through inflammation, so we do not want these medications to interfere.
- If you are or have been on systemic corticosteroids within 2 weeks of treatment, you cannot be treated. Please consult your physician about discontinuing steroids before scheduling.
- Stop blood thinning supplements such as Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, or EFAs/DHAs at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, spicy foods, and cigarettes for 3 days before and after treatment, as these may increase the risk of bruising.
- Stay well hydrated for 24–48 hours before your appointment. Hydration helps us obtain higher-quality plasma and supports healing.
- The healthier you are, the better your results will be. Eating a nutrient-rich diet, exercising regularly, getting good sleep, and avoiding smoking or excess alcohol can improve your outcome.
- Eat a healthy meal before your appointment.
Post-Treatment Instructions
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and EZ Gel
- Do not touch, press, rub, or manipulate the treated area for at least 8 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, and steroids for at least 3–7 days after your procedure. Inflammation is part of the healing process that makes PRP and EZ Gel effective.
- Avoid supplements such as Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids for 3 days to 1 week after treatment.
- If you experience discomfort or pain, you may take Tylenol or other acetaminophen products.
- You may apply ice to the treated area for 20–30 minutes after the procedure if desired, but do not apply ice directly to the skin.
- Do not wash or shower for at least 6 hours after treatment. Do not apply lotions, creams, or makeup for at least 6 hours.
- Avoid vigorous exercise, sun exposure, and heat (sauna, hot tub) for at least 3 days after your treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and cigarettes for 3 days before and after your treatment. Smokers do not heal as well and results may take longer.
- Drink at least 64 ounces of water on the day of your treatment. Continue increased water intake for at least one week after to support healing.
- Mild swelling, redness, itching, soreness, or bruising is normal and may last 3–10 days.
- If you had PRP with microneedling, do not wash the PRP off for at least 5–8 hours. Avoid heat exposure on the face during this time, as it may reduce efficacy.
Why These Guidelines Matter
PRP and EZ Gel treatments rely on your body’s natural healing system. By following these instructions, avoiding anti-inflammatory medications, staying hydrated, and maintaining good overall health, you give your platelets and growth factors the best chance to stimulate collagen, improve skin quality, and support natural rejuvenation. The healthier you are, the better your results will be.
