At Nervana Medical, we offer individual laboratory testing so we can build the perfect panel for your needs. To obtain customized individual lab panels, a provider lab consult must be scheduled to ensure appropriate labs are ordered. We also offer pre-defined lab panels ready for purchase to get the process started prior to seeing a provider, but must be ran as cash pay only if not seeing a provider prior to the order being sent to you.

What to Expect and How to Get Started

At Nervana Medical, we strive to make laboratory testing simple, transparent, and affordable. Whether you plan to use insurance or prefer cash-pay pricing, our team will guide you through each step to ensure you understand your options and receive the care you need.

Step 1: Schedule a Lab Services Consultation

Before ordering labs, patients must schedule a Lab Services Consultation.

Lab Services Consultation Fee:
$50 This fee may be waived for patients choosing cash-pay lab pricing.

During this consultation, we will:

• Review your health concerns and goals
• Determine which labs are appropriate
• Provide education on testing options
• Discuss insurance versus cash-pay pricing

You will also receive important educational materials to help guide your decision.

Step 2: Choose Insurance or Cash Pay

After your consultation, you may choose one of the following options.

Option 1: Insurance Billing

If you plan to use insurance:

You will receive:

• A lab order marked VOID
• Associated diagnosis (ICD-10) codes
• Procedure (CPT) codes

You will then:

1. Contact your insurance company
2. Confirm coverage and estimated costs
3. Compare insurance pricing to our cash-pay pricing

Once you decide how you would like to proceed, notify our office so we can issue your final lab order.

Option 2 : Cash Pay Labs

If you choose cash-pay pricing:

• Payment for labs must be completed before the lab order is released
• Once payment is received, your official lab order will be sent

Many patients prefer cash-pay pricing for:

• Transparent costs
• Faster processing
• No insurance billing delays

Step 3 : Get Your Labs Drawn

Once you receive your final lab order:

1. Take your lab order to the designated laboratory
2. Have your labs drawn
3. Notify our office once your labs have been completed

This helps us track your results and prepare for your follow-up appointment.

Step 4 : Schedule Your Lab Review Appointment

After your labs are drawn, a Lab Results Review appointment should be scheduled approximately:

1.5 to 2 weeks after your lab draw

During this visit, your provider will:

• Review your results in detail
• Explain findings
• Discuss treatment recommendations
• Create or adjust your care plan

Special Instructions for Current Hormone Therapy Patients

If you are an existing hormone therapy patient, your provider may request labs within a specific time frame.

You may receive a Lab Draw Reminder appointment to help ensure labs are completed at the correct time. We will typically schedule this on your providers schedule to remind both you and them to get your repeat labs rolling

It is important to complete your labs during the recommended window to ensure accurate results and proper medication management.

Where Your Labs Are Drawn

While we can draw blood in-clinic, this is typically reserved for special circumstances, such as:

• Compliance or accessibility issues
• Urgent clinical need
• Situations where convenience is critical and a provider is available

For the majority of patients, we order labs to Quest or Intermountain Health (IHC) lab draw sites since this is usually more convenient for patients who are not as close to our clinic.
