Clinic Expansion

flooring

We are thrilled to announce that we are expanding our clinic to better serve our patients! Our new project will include the addition of four more exam rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, and a comfortable waiting area.

With a larger and more functional clinic we will have the capacity to bring more clinical experts to the Nervana Family and therefore see more patients, reduce wait times, and provide a more comprehensive range of medical services. Our goal is to make our clinic as welcoming and comfortable as possible for our patients.

We are dedicated to providing the highest level of medical care and believe that this expansion will help us achieve that goal. We are excited to see our vision come to life and look forward to serving our community even better.

Stay tuned for updates on the progress of the project and the opening of our new and improved clinic!

NAD+ – Unlocking the Power of Cellular Energy

If you are following our social media account @nervanamedical you have likely seen that we are posting a lot about NAD+. As we age, our body's ability to produce and maintain energy declines, leading to a range of age-related health issues. One vital molecule that plays a crucial role in cellular energy production is Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+).

NAD+ is a coenzyme that exists in all living cells and is involved in several metabolic processes, including the conversion of food into energy. It plays a critical role in the functioning of enzymes that regulate key cellular functions, including DNA repair, circadian rhythm, and stress response.

Recent research has shown that boosting NAD+ levels can have a range of benefits for human health, including improved brain function, increased energy, and enhanced athletic performance. It may also help protect against age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and type 2 diabetes.

NAD+ Supplementation

There are several ways to increase NAD+ levels in the body. One is through diet. Foods rich in niacin, a form of vitamin B3, are known to increase NAD+ levels. These include meat, fish, poultry, and nuts.

Another method is through supplements that contain NAD+ precursors like nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). These supplements work by increasing the levels of NAD+ in the body, which can help improve energy levels, metabolism, and overall health.

Oral NAD+ supplements are widely available and can be easily taken at home. However, the absorption of NAD+ through the digestive system can be limited, and much of the coenzyme may be lost during the metabolic process.

At Nervana Medical we offer a take home kit for IM or subcutaneous injections of NAD+. IM and subcutaneous injections provide a more direct and efficient way to deliver the coenzyme to the body. When administered through injection, NAD+ can bypass the digestive system and be absorbed directly into the bloodstream and muscles.

NAD+ and Anti-aging

One of the most exciting areas of NAD+ research is its potential in anti-aging. As we age, our NAD+ levels naturally decline, leading to a range of age-related health issues. By supplementing with NAD+ precursors, we may be able to slow down the aging process and delay the onset of age-related diseases.

NAD+ and Long CovidnnThere is some evidence to suggest that NAD+ depletion may play a role in the development of long COVID symptoms. Research has shown that NAD+ levels are depleted in response to viral infection, and that this depletion can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. Mitochondrial dysfunction can affect cellular metabolism and energy production, which may contribute to the fatigue and muscle weakness experienced by long COVID patients.NAD+ and Athletic PerformancennPyruvate is a molecule that is produced during the breakdown of glucose in the process of glycolysis. Pyruvate can be converted into acetyl-CoA, which enters the citric acid cycle and produces ATP, the primary source of energy for cells. NAD+ is involved in this process as it acts as a cofactor for the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase, which converts pyruvate into acetyl-CoA.nnLactate is produced when there is insufficient oxygen available to meet the energy demands of the cells. This can occur during intense exercise, when the muscles are working hard and oxygen supply is limited. In this situation, the body uses an anaerobic pathway to produce energy, which results in the production of lactate. NAD+ is also involved in lactate metabolism, as it acts as a cofactor for the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase, which converts lactate back into pyruvate or glucose in the liver.nnNAD+ plays a critical role in regulating the balance between pyruvate and lactate metabolism. It is involved in maintaining the redox balance of the cells, which is necessary for the proper functioning of many metabolic pathways. If NAD+ levels are depleted, it can lead to metabolic dysfunction and the accumulation of lactate in the cells, which can contribute to a range of health problems.Summary and Special OffernnAs you can tell, we are very excited about NAD+. As research into NAD+ continues, we can expect to see more exciting discoveries about its potential in improving human health.nnFor the month of April we are offering a special introductory price of $400 for our take home kit of 1000mg of NAD+ so be sure to ask if you are interested!

Team Spotlight – Sidney Stoker

We are thrilled to introduce you to one of our incredible team members, Sid, whose diverse background and skills make her an invaluable member of our team.

As a licensed RN with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Physiology, Sid brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our practice. She has dedicated her career to helping patients achieve optimal health, with a particular passion for holistic and functional medicine. Over the course of three years, Sid honed her skills in this field before transitioning to the emergency room for a year, gaining valuable experience and perspective in acute care.

In May 2022, Sid took a leap of faith and left the hospital to join Nervana Medical, then operating out of a single small room! Her gentle touch and attention to detail have earned her a reputation as one of the best in the business.

In her free time, Sid can be found spoiling her beloved poodle, scouring thrift stores for hidden gems, and adding to her collection of white shoes. Her favorite color is sage green, and she enjoys winding down after a long day with a perfectly crafted whiskey sour. We also learned recently that Sid can eat an entire seafood platter by herself.

We are grateful to have Sid as part of our team, bringing her wealth of experience, expertise, and passion to our practice. Please join us in thanking her for all that she does!
