NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a vital coenzyme found in all living cells. It plays a crucial role in cellular energy production, DNA repair, and overall metabolism.
Key Functions of NAD+:
- Energy Production: Helps convert food into ATP (the body’s main energy source) through cellular respiration.
- DNA Repair: Supports cellular repair processes, which are essential for longevity and reducing age-related decline.
- Neuroprotection: Aids in brain function and may help protect against neurodegenerative diseases.
- Anti-Aging & Cellular Health: Boosts mitochondrial function, promoting overall cellular health and longevity.
Why Is NAD+ Important?
As we age, NAD+ levels decline, leading to fatigue, cognitive decline, and metabolic issues. Supplementing with NAD+ precursors (like NMN or NR) or IV infusions can help restore levels, potentially improving energy, brain function, and longevity.
A recent study on Fertility …..
The study titled “NAD+ Repletion Rescues Female Fertility during Reproductive Aging” investigates the role of Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) in age-related fertility decline. Researchers found that oocyte quality diminishes with age due to decreased NAD+ levels. Administering the NAD+ precursor, nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), to aged mice improved oocyte quality, restored fertility, and enhanced embryo development. These benefits were also observed with the overexpression of the NAD+-dependent enzyme SIRT2. The findings suggest that boosting NAD+ levels may offer a therapeutic approach to counteract reproductive aging in females.
At Nervana Medical, we offer NAD+ “By the Vial” options as well as IV Infusions.
Vitality by the Vial” Program is designated for certain patients who desire the convenience of “at home” injections. The program consists of an initial appointment with one of our providers who will either “approve” your desired medication or who will help guide you to what option would promote your best overall health and wellness goals. You will then be educated on how to appropriately draw up the medication and administer it to yourself.
